Seeing Michelle struggle with a new friendship versus an old one shows all three sides quite well, though we only see Michelle's POV. The possessive Cassie, jealous because Mandy has moved from New Jersey and Michelle's been assigned to help her in her new school. The lonely Mandy, who sticks to Michelle like glue and instantly wants Michelle to be her best friend. And Michelle, caught int he middle and worried both will hate her. She gets them to co-operate in the end, though.

A great book for kids,a nd shows why I dislke Substitute Sister so much. Stephanie makes the mistakes Michelle makes in third grade, and still and can't get it right. But enough about that, this book is tops.
