Pam's Corner - Pam's Diary Highlights

August 10, 1972

Dear diary,

Today was the hottest day I remember this summer. So dad decided we would go to the swimming pool. But we were not the only ones who had that idea.

My dad got sun-burned soon and my mother took him out into the shadow. Jesse and I wanted to stay in the sun, so I had to watch him. But Jesse would not be Jesse if he didn't disappeared somehow. I have been looking all over for him, and finally I found him at the toilet, looking in the mirror if his hair was till sitting great. I hope he doesn't get a hair-obsession later on in his life, he's only 9 years old now and sometimes it can be very pathetic.

That reminds me, this morning I wanted to do my hair, but I couldn't find my brush anywhere. Finally I found it in Jesse's room. He said he didn't want to have difficult hair. I can imagine that, he's very difficult to handle sometimes himself.

Well, two days to go and Danny's back from Florida. I can't wait to see him. He called me last night, and he said he had a big surprise for me. He's such a sweet boy. He's very handy to know too. I remember when we were at the zoo some months ago and I slipped and fell. He helped me to get on my feet, and the rest of the day he walked in front of me with a mop to make sure the ground where I was going to walk was clean enough for me, so I wouldn't slip anymore.

Tomorrow grandma will pay us a visit, she has to come all the way from New York. I haven't seen her in ages. Now I can finally show her the grades from the end of the school year. I told her on the phone, but you know her, diary, she doesn't believe it until he saw it. But when I'm having great marks she's so proud. I believe she would even call all of her friends to tell them about me. She's so sweet.

Well, dear diary, I have to quit now. I promised my mother to help her mending some socks.

But tomorrow I will be back,

Love,

Pam
